Dorothy J. King, age 79, was called home by the Lord in the comfort of home while with her family on Monday, November 12, 2012. She was born August 20, 1933, in Oak Hill to the late Charles and Edna M. (Wilson) Martin.
She is survived by her daughter, Samantha (Ronnie Jr.) Shephard; grandchildren, Brad Shephard (Brittney McGlone) and Joshua Shephard; great-grandchildren, Gunner Lee Shephard, Venneha Shephard, and Charity and Chase Fry, all of Oak Hill. She is also survived by nieces, Edna (David) Creech, of Athens, Patty (John) Perry, of Jackson; nephew, Charles E. Martin, of Oak Hill; great-nieces, Ashley Prater, of Jackson, Brittney (Michael) Wheeler, of Athens; great-nephew, David Creech Jr., of Athens; great-great-nieces, Maddison and Sierra Corvin, of Jackson; and great-great-nephew, Matthew Wheeler, of Athens.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert King and her sister, Helen Crawford.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and she will be greatly missed by many.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 15, 2012 at the Lewis-Gillum Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. Robert Bloomfield officiating. Burial will follow in Horeb Cemetery.
