Doris Marie McFann Tock

Doris Marie McFann Tock was born in Holden, West Virginia on March 25, 1932. Her father was Willis Edward McFann, Sr. and her mother was Katherine Reaper. Her siblings, Orin, Winifred Ann, Neal, Willis Jr. and Pauline McFann, preceded Doris in death.

She moved to Oak Hill, Ohio in 1937 and attended Oak Hill Schools. She graduated from high school in 1949 and attended Rio Grande College in Ohio. She received a Master’s Degree from Saginaw Valley College in Michigan.

Doris was an elementary school teacher. She began her teaching career at the Blackfork, Jackson and Fairborn Schools in Ohio, and ended her 35-year career with retirement from the Utica Community Michigan Schools in 1989.

Doris leaves behind her two children, Michelle Tock York and Jeffrey Michael Tock as well as her four grandchildren: Jessica Souder, Katherine York, Karlyn Malcolm and Kevin York. She also leaves behind her loving companion and best friend, Lawrence E. Anderson.

Doris Marie Tock had a strong will power. She never gave up on what she believed was her truth. Her favorite stanza was… “See the wild birds on the wing, Hear the bells that sweetly ring, When you feel like sighin’, sing – Keep a-goin’!” –Frank L. Stanton.

The funeral service was set for Monday, January 7, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the Potere-Modetz Funeral Home, 339 Walnut Blvd., Rochester, MI.
