Doris G. Mather

Doris G. Mather, 84, of Wellston, Ohio, entered her heavenly home early Thursday morning, November 6, 2014, at her residence.

She was born in Wellston on June 28, 1930, to the late John L. Thacker and Hazel McKinnis Thacker. She was a 1948 graduate of Wellston High School and retired from Pillsbury of Wellston after 30 years employment as a machine operator. She attended the Wellston Church of the Nazarene. In her spare time she was an avid reader and flower gardener.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death in April 1994 by her husband, Arthur “Gene” Mather; in September 2012 by her son-in-law, Warren Young; four brothers, Howard, Harold, Harry, and Homer Thacker; and a sister, Avonelle Thacker.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Aleta Gilliland Mather, of Woodstock, Virginia; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon Young of Wellston, and Diana and Earl Williams of Wellston; three grandchildren, Brett (Monica) Mather of Savannah, Georgia, Troy Young of Wellston, and Jaclyn Mather (Andrew Vest) of Roanoke, Virginia; a brother, Johnny (Shelby) Thacker of Hamden, Ohio; three sisters, Dorothy Barnett of Wellston, Jeanette (Richard) McWhorter of Hamden, Ohio, and Lenora Wilcox of Chillicothe, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

The children of Doris invite family and friends to call at the Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Wellston on Saturday from 4 until 8 p.m. Services will take place on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Jenkins Chapel with Pastor Donald Fairchild officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery in Wellston.
