Doris Ann Fox, age 86, of Wellston, passed away Friday evening, Sept. 18, 2020, at her home. She was born Jan. 11, 1934 in Wellston, Ohio, daughter of the late Ott Ward and Maude Marie Austin Ward.
Doris was a 1952 graduate of Wellston High School. She was a former employee for many years at Al’s Custom Cut in Jackson and Hercules Trouser Company in Wellston. Do, as she was fondly referred to by family and friends, enjoyed crafting, gardening, feeding the hummingbirds and quilting. Doris loved to bake, and she received great enjoyment from sharing her goodies with her neighbors and friends.
In years past, Doris always participated in the Wellston Rotary Minstrel Show; something that always gave her and her husband, Jim, much enjoyment. She was a former member of the Eastern Star, Rotary Anns and Hope United Methodist Church.
Doris is survived by her son, Mark Fox of Wellston; niece, Alyce Smith of Jackson; nephew, Ralph Wastier, Jr. of Michigan; as well as a niece and nephew in Seattle, Washington.
Besides her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, James I. “Jim” Fox in 2001; sisters, Marjorie Wastier, Gladys Mahle and Peg Smith; and brothers, Claar Ward and Merrill (Jr.) Ward.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, Sept. 26, 2020, at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston with Bill Taylor officiating. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Elk Cemetery in McArthur.
