David E. Burton, Sr.

David E. Burton, Sr., age 67, of Jackson, went to be with the Lord and his loved ones on Saturday morning, April 14, 2012, at his home, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the youngest son born to Archie and Ella (Cheek) Burton on October 13, 1944, in Coalton, Ohio.

David loved his family first and foremost and he enjoyed traveling and camping. He accomplished many things during his lifetime. He graduated from Coalton High School in 1962 and then in later years, he graduated from Manpower Training Center.

David was an accomplished businessman. His most prominent business was Dave’s Refrigeration, Heating and Air Conditioning in Jackson County and surrounding areas for over 25 years. He worked in several different trades over the years. Among them were steel worker, machinist and a self-employed truck driver. David loved people and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He will surely be missed by all who knew him.

Surviving is his loving wife of 49 years, Aligria (French) Burton; his children, Dr. David Burton, Jr. (Misty) of Chillicothe, Chris Burton (Angel) of Jackson and Elisa Willis of Wellston; sisters, Rosabelle Ray of Zanesville and Carolyn Wyatt of Wellston; brother, Charles Burton of Jackson, as well as 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides his parents, David was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Burton and an infant grandson.

At David’s request, his body was cremated. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston, where friends and family may call two hours prior to the service. In keeping with his wishes, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to the American Cancer Society, 138 Marietta Road, Suite D, Chillicothe, Ohio 45601.
