Darren A. Arms

By | January 27, 2021

Darren A. Arms, 54, of Wellston, passed away on Monday, Jan. 25, 2021, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was born on Dec. 28, 1966, in Gallipolis, Ohio, son of the late Gene and Janet (Beabout) Arms.

Darren was a talented mechanic who loved working on cars. This was not only a hobby, but also a way in which he supported his family with Arms Trucking and Auto Repair. He was a collector of guns and Chevy automobiles. He also enjoyed hunting… mostly up until his girls were old enough to go along, and suddenly, no prey could be found for at least a hundred yards.

A gentle giant, Darren had a huge heart for animals, especially dogs, and dearly loved his kids and grandkids. In fact, spending time with his loved ones and friends was his favorite pastime. He was a wonderful storyteller with a great imagination and brought to life many tales to his grandchildren, including the time he wrestled a shark with his bare hands, leaving him with a scarred arm; or the time he tracked and chased Bigfoot through the woods. He also very much enjoyed family game night. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.

He is survived by his loving family: wife, Beverly; daughters, Patty (Rickie) Woodruff, Tesa (Anthony) Mullins, and Leah (Jamie) McWhorter; 14 grandchildren: Annie, Hunter, Isaac, Conor, Austin, Riley, Adair, Bella, Trace, Calum, Cade, Jasmine, Jade, and Kam; three brothers, one sister, and his aunt, Carol Sprague; as well as several nieces and nephews, and his two dogs, Lilly and Goldie.

A funeral service celebrating Darren’s life will be held on Friday, Jan. 29, 2021 at 7 p.m. in the chapel of R.M. Williams Funeral Service, 120 W. Broadway St., Wellston, with Stagerlee Beabout officiating. In keeping with Darren’s wishes cremation will follow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home also on Friday two hours prior to the service, from 5 to 7 p.m.
