Dale Alvin Black

Dale Alvin Black, age 91, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Holzer of Jackson. He was born May 19, 1925 to the late John Logan and Artilla (Cherrington) Black.

Dale is survived by his wife of 57 years, Charlotte (Maiberger) Black; sons: John (Debbie) Black of Oak Hill, Ohio, Thomas (Pam) Black of Columbus; daughters, Susan Black and Cathy Gooch (Jeff) of Louisville, Kentucky; grandchildren: Heather Black, John (Tiffany) Black, and Ryan (Jen) Black; great-grandchildren: Konnor, McKenzey, Chelsey, Payton, Drew, and Kennedy; sister, Margaret Irene Black of Oak Hill, Ohio; and very special family friend, Steve Schwering.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Black and a brother, Charles Wesley Black.

Dale was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps in which he served as a B-17 Mechanic. He worked at and retired from the Goodyear Atomic Plant in Piketon, Ohio. He was also a member of Franklin Valley Methodist Church.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the nurses at Professional Case Management for the care they provided Dale during his last years.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Franklin Valley Cemetery in Jackson with Pastor Danny Boggs officiating.
