Connie Lou (Sexton) Folden

Connie Lou (Sexton) Folden, age 75, of Jackson, Ohio passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at her home. She was born the 9th of 12 children to the late Ama Jane (Cain) Sexton and William Christley Sexton on May 1, 1945. She was born on Mitchell Street in Jackson and was raised and lived on Smith Bridge Rd.

Connie started working at the young age of 14 doing various odd jobs such as babysitting, waitressing at the age of 18, and then went to Goodyear for 20 years. She also worked at Jeno’s, was an EMT for Jackson County, a cook at various places during her lifetime, with her last job being a Confidant for two professors in Athens, Ohio, as well as caring for her many grandchildren.

She enjoyed various activities including hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, picnics, hiking, cornhole, and especially cooking and catering. One of her greatest joys was the special companionship of her dogs, Smokey Joe, Lady Sarah, Moose, Savior, Rover, Larry and Richard.

Connie attended Fairview Christian Church of Tick Ridge before attending Wills Chapel. Connie was involved in numerous church activities.

She is survived by her children: Marla (Woody) Smith, Marvin “Carl” Folden, Carla (Ron) Folden Wolford Nutter, and Michelle (Jason) Smith; grandchildren: Daniel (Amy) Hubbard, Danielle (Brent) Causey, Jafar (Jon) Smith, Christy (David) Smith, Shane (Tausha) Folden, Brock (Tiffany) Wolford, Cain (Adrianna) Wolford, Zane Wolford (Rose), Conner Wolford (Ashley), Abram “Max” Wolford (Sydney Davis), Ama Grace Wolford (Evan Darnell), Teia & Dewey Hart, Tyler Nutter, and Kenzie Smith; great-grandchildren: Addison Hubbard, Hunter, Jordan, and Harley Causey, Jensen and Kennedy Plummer, Olivia and Misha Smith, Shane, Tayla, and Shayla Folden, Bryson Stiltner, Owen and Aria Wolford, Piper Richison, Anakin Wolford, Zailyn Wolford, Peyton & Bella Wolford, Jaiden and Maddox Nutter, and Hunter and Riley Hart, and two more great-grandchildren on the way; and siblings: Doris Hacker, Marlene Simpson, Tom Sexton, Lela Cooper, and Gary Sexton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; twin infant children; three sisters: Ilene, Arleda, and Rosalee; three brothers: William “Buddy”, Floyd, and Ronnie; and grandson, Gary Lee Jr.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to her aide, Tiffany and all the nurses with Heartland Hospice for her care.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 26, 2021 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 2 p.m. with Connie’s nephew, Pastor Butch Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the funeral home. Per CDC and governor guidelines, everyone is required to wear a mask while indoors and practice proper social distancing.
