Cindy L. Saltsman

Cindy L. Saltsman, age 58, of Wellston, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017. She passed on following complications from a successful heart transplant at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. Cindy and her family were, and always will be, grateful for the gift of her new heart and she always kept her donor’s family in her prayers.

Cindy was born Nov. 27, 1958 in Columbus, Ohio, the youngest of 13 children, to the late Clarence L. Hollingshead and Ella Mae Sprouse Hollingshead. She was a 1978 graduate of Wellston High School and a 1989 graduate of Hocking Technical College, where she obtained her Associates Degree in Nursing. Cindy, a registered nurse and a Licensed Massage Therapist, was employed with the Ohio Department of Medicaid as a Medicaid Auditor. She was the former Director of Nursing at Jenkins Memorial Health Facility in Wellston and an Occupational Health Nurse at Mills Pride in Waverly.

Cindy was an avid believer in retail therapy, along with enjoying cooking Sunday meals, gardening and being with her family. She was a member of the Zion #3 Church; former 4-H Advisor for over 20 years for the Totally Awesome Kids 4-H Club, and was actively involved with the Jackson County Relay for Life and the Cancer Society’s Festival of Trees.

Cindy is survived by her husband of 38 years, Mark Edward Saltsman; two daughters, Monica Ford (Jeremy) of Oak Hill and Mallory Conley (John Paul) of Wellston; three grandchildren, Aden and Blaise Ford and John Declan Conley; brothers, Jerry Hollingshead and Ted Hollingshead; sisters, Wanda Robertson and Judy Hughes; and her best friend and sister, not by blood, but by choice, Sue Jones.

Besides her parents, Cindy was preceded in death by brothers, Bill, Bob, Roy Gene, Ray, Don and Dink Hollingshead; sisters, Betty Wholaver and Dorothy Allen; and one angel grandchild.

Calling hours were set for Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Chuck Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the Salem Cemetery.
