Charles W. Gilliland, age 87, of Wellston, Ohio, went to be with the Lord and Savior at Holzer Medical Center, Jackson, Ohio, on Monday, March 18, 2013. He was born in Oak Hill, Ohio on March 1, 1926. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Bundy Gilliland and Katherine Ruhana (Friend) Gilliland; several brothers and sisters and his great-granddaughter, Lucy Dawn Tiller.
Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he proudly served on the front lines during WW II. He and his wife attended Trinity Chapel CCCU in Jackson for many years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Sarah Ann Exline Gilliland; children: Charles W. Jr. and Vicki Gilliland, Michael Eugene and Carolyn Gay Gilliland, Linda Susan Snider, Paul Douglas Gilliland, Brenda Susan and Michael Burgett; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brother, Philip Joseph and Betty Gilliland; and sisters, Virginia Ward, Elizabeth Fleming and Catherine Voorhees.
Friends will be received at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home Friday, March 22, from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Trinity Chapel, 14545 S.R. 93, Jackson, Ohio, on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 12 p.m. with Pastor Bob Jones officiating. Friends will also be received at Trinity Chapel from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Jackson, Ohio.
