Carlton B. Snedecor

Carlton B. Snedecor, age 96, of Wellston, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, July 22, 2017 at Jenkins Care Community in Wellston, Ohio. He was born at home in Wellston on March 13, 1921 to the late Benjamin Franklin Snedecor and Leota M. Nichols Snedecor.

Carlton was a 1939 graduate of Wellston High School and furthered his education by obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from The Ohio State University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Xavier University. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps who served in Guam during WW II. Carlton was a Hospital Administrator who was formerly employed as an Assistant Superintendent at both the Central Ohio Psychiatric Hospital and Gallipolis Developmental Center. He was a member of the Hope United Methodist Church in Wellston and was a dedicated volunteer at My Brother’s Place. Carlton, a teaser and a jokester with an excellent sense of humor, enjoyed being a big Xavier Musketeers basketball fan. But most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Carlton is survived by his wife and best friend of 58 years, Barbara J. Davis Snedecor, whom he married on Jan. 6, 1959; two daughters, Toni Snedecor of Bradenton, Florida and Holly Gray (Scott Davis) of Jackson; and his two grandsons, Drake Gray and Xavier Gray.

Besides his parents, Carlton was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Dave Gray; and his siblings, Marcelle Marks, Captola Miller, Fern Goman, Frank Snedecor, Lorraine Kisling and Donald Snedecor.

Funeral service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the Hope United Methodist Church in Wellston with John Pelletier, CLP officiating and burial following in the Ridgewood Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.
