Betty Zinn Davis

Betty Jane Zinn-Davis, 70, of Wellston, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 13, 2021, at her home, following an extended illness. She was born on March 19, 1951, in McArthur, Ohio, daughter of the late Ernest Zinn and Jane Salmons Zinn. Betty graduated from Vinton County Consolidated High School in 1969. She was a very endearing nurse for over 35 years and was released of her duties with the Nightingale Tribute. While raising her family, she received her LPN from Buckeye Hills Career Center in 1981 and her RN from Hocking College in 1983.  Later in life she continued her education by attending Ohio University and receiving her Bachelor’s in the Science of Nursing in 1999, and she went on to graduate from Franklin University with her Master’s in Business in 2003.

Betty worked at Adena Hospital for 33 years in multiple roles.  After retiring, she went on to be a substitute teacher in the Wellston City School District.  She founded the Sandi Davis-Weiland Motorcycle Awareness Foundation in 2004, and she spoke at multiple driving schools. Betty enjoyed gardening, bird watching, cooking, and traveling. She will be missed by many.

She is survived by her loving husband, Howard “John” Davis, whom she married on August 12, 1967; siblings, Carolyn (Rick) Denney of Texas, Wayne (Dorothy) Zinn of Virginia, Pam (Joe) Jones of Thurman; brothers and sisters in law: Joyce Armentrout, Bob Davis, and Mary Liming, all of Wellston, Clyde (Linda) Davis of Gallipolis, and Hubert Davis of North Carolina.

Betty and John had four daughters: Tammy (Mike) Nelson of Vinton, Kitty (Jim) Hillger of Peebles, Sandi Davis-Weiland, who preceded her in death in 2003, and Mikki (Carl) Jones of Wellston; 12-Grandchildren: Tamar (Fuzzy) Fulkerson, T.J. Kisor, Tylor (Ashley) Kisor, Christopher (Linda) Hillger, Scott (Hannah) Hillger, Katy (Shawn) Kuhn, Taren (Kayla) Davis, Dylon Sheaffer, Jacob Sheaffer, Maddison Sheaffer, Brandi Jones (Roy), and C.J. Jones; 13-Great-Grandchildren: Tristan, Trent, Trevor, Trinity, Jace, Parker, Luke, Zach, Titus, Celia Rose, Gemma, Logan, and Ro; her aunt, Judy Marie Salmons- McKenzie; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her fur babies.

A funeral mass celebrating Betty’s life will be held on Monday, May 17, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., in Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Wellston, with Father Nic Ventura as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Wellston.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 16, 2021, from 2 to 5 p.m., at R.M. Williams Funeral Service, 120 W. Broadway St., Wellston, where a vigil service will begin at 5:00 p.m.
