Betty Ferrell

Betty Mae (McCoy) Ferrell, age 88, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 28 in Perdue, Oklahoma. She was born Sept. 17, 1932, in Pikeville, Kentucky to the late Hatcher and Elizabeth McCoy.

She is survived by her daughters: Doretha Curylo of Michigan, Donna Smith of Ohio, Deborah (Gambino) Pence of Michigan, Brenda (Mike) Trautz of Missouri, and Crystal (Jim) Lewis of Michigan; son: John (Niki) Ferrell of Oklahoma; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; very special brother-in-law, Randall Ferrell of Kentucky; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life and loving husband of over 60 years, Elmer Ferrell, and special daughter, Sharon Hanley.

Betty attended Trinity Chapel Church of Jackson for several years. She was a very special part of the church in helping in any way where needed. She loved her minister, Bob and Sarah Jones with all her heart. He was always there for her and Elmer. She loved to read the Bible and her favorite verse was John 3:16. She enjoyed listening to gospel music but most of all she enjoyed setting up for flea markets with her husband and going shopping all day until she dropped with Jennie Stiffler. She loved her family and the Lord. Her favorite song was “I’ll Fly Away.” 

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 7 from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson, with graveside services to immediately follow at C.M. Cemetery with Pastor Knox Bullock officiating. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com
