Betty Pettit Dickerson, age 81, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, on January 3, 2022. She was born on August 31, 1940, in Oak Hill, Ohio to the late Dave and Stella (Allen) Pettit.
Betty is survived by her loving children: Yvonne (Eric) McFann, Allan and Shawn Dickerson; grandchildren: Mallory and Tyler Williams, Madison and Coty Lester, Dana Dickerson and Deven Dickerson; great grandchildren: Braxton Williams and Kensington Lester; and loving and helpful friend, Liz Frisby. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Dickerson; and her brothers: Eddie and Paul Pettit; and numerous brother and sister in laws.
Betty graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1958. She later moved to California, where she met the love of her life, Kenneth Dickerson. They were married on July 14, 1962, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Betty and Kenneth lived in California for a few years, then moved back to Jackson, where they raised their children and lived for the rest of their lives. Betty was a Driver’s License Examiner for many years. When she retired, she took on the full-time job of spoiling her grandchildren and later, great grandchildren, who she loved so much. Betty enjoyed traveling to Renfro Valley to hear music and watch concerts with Kenny and her friends. She also loved to take trips to Amish country. Betty enjoyed canning food, baking pies and making Christmas candy every year with her granddaughters. She more recently enjoyed her daily phone calls and talking with her friends. She loved to spend time with her family and spoil her grandchildren every chance she got. Betty touched many lives and found a friend in every person she met. She will be long remembered and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
