Bascum Hubbard

Bascum Hubbard, age 83, of Wellston, passed away Sunday, July 18 at Four Winds Community. He was born May 10, 1938, at home in Thurman, Ohio to the late Clyde Hubbard and Inez Addington Hubbard. Bascum was a 1956 graduate of Jackson High School and a veteran of the United States Army. He was the former owner and operator of H&H Ashland Service Station in Jackson, as well as a former delivery driver for Meals on Wheels for the Jackson Senior Citizens. Bascum enjoyed listening to old country music, watching wrestling on T.V. and spending time with his family, especially his great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Lee Hubbard of Jackson and Brenda Preston of Wellston; grandchildren, Jill Brandau (Jason), Aleck Preston (Brandi), Heather Bishop (Scott) and Christina Dillard (Jesse); great-grandchildren, Gavin and Emma Brandau, Braylee Fowler, Gemma Preston, Connor and Christopher Bishop and Adalyn Dillard; siblings, Gary Dean Hubbard (Norma), Betty Halley (Ronnie) and Hazel Dumm (Ted); along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. Besides his parents, Bascum was preceded in death by his former wife of 42 years, June Lemaster Hubbard; great-granddaughter, Lily Mae Brandau; brothers, Columbus, Blaine, David, Wayne, Bill, Jr. and Marvin Hubbard; and sisters, June Lambert, Lula Rose, Mae Detty, Joann Hubbard and Opal Sharp.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, July 20 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 21, at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home.
