Barbara Potter

Barbara C. Potter, age 80, of Wellston, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2022, at OSU East Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was born December 1, 1941, in Newark, Ohio to the late Willard Warren Brown and Clara V. Smith Brown.

Barb graduated from Newark High School with the class of 1959. She retired from the Jackson City Schools, where she was employed in the treasurer’s office. In years past, Barb loved to show horses. She also always enjoyed working in her yard taking care of her flowers and pond and participating in the Wellston Rotary Minstrel Shows. Barb was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wellston, where she sang in the choir and was a former deacon and church secretary/treasurer for many, many years.

She is survived by her children: Brad Potter (Belinda) of Del Rio, Texas and Lynne Thompson (Robert Darnell) of Wellston; grandchildren: Sean Potter, Alec Potter and Christopher Thompson (Kait); step-grandchildren: Brandon Riojas (Julie), and Savannah, Evan, Bobbi and Libby Darnell; great-grandson, Ryker; step-great-grandchildren: Zari, Lani, Milo, Gabriella and Trenton; brothers: Dale Brown of Zanesville and Gary Brown of Newark; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Larry E. Potter in 2001.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, May 25, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral services will follow the calling hours at 2 p.m. with Pastor John Pelletier officiating. Burial will be in the Ridgewood Cemetery.
