Arbutus E. “Boots” Phillips

Arbutus E. “Boots” Phillips, age 78, of Coalton, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2012, at the Four Winds Community. She was born July 8, 1934 in Madison County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Charles William “Cotton” Exline and Laura L. Humphreys Exline.

Boots was a 1952 graduate of Coalton High School. She was a former employee of the Hercules Trouser Company in Wellston, the Eagles Bingo, the Jackson One Hour Cleaners and Classic Cleaners and was a “grandparent” at the Jackson Child Development Center. Boots attended the Zion #3 Church in Wellston and was a member of the Rolling Wheels Camping Club and the Rolling Buckeyes Camping Club.

She is survived by her three sons, Charles L. “Chuck” (Kathleen) Phillips of Wellston, Rex (Rhonda) Phillips of Hamden and Sam (Robin) Phillips of Oak Hill; special neighbor kids, Ernie, Susie, Jim, Bobby, Sam, Lula, Louise, Beth Ann and Dale; grandchildren, Belinda (Roger) Trace, Tony (Brittany) Phillips, Angel (Aaron) Allen, Rachel Bertram, Michael Phillips, April Phillips, Andrea (Randy) Minton, Abigail (Bill) Tolbert, Jamie Phillips, Kevin (Ashley) Phillips, Casey Phillips, Chloe Phillips, Alex Kuhn and Riley Kuhn; sisters, Joyce Jewell of Jackson and Becky (Ellis) LeCroy of Branson, Missouri, as well as 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. “Bob” Phillips in 2009; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Phillips; brother, Grafton (Joan) Exline and brother-in-law, Dick Jewell.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with her son, Chuck Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Memory Gardens in Coalton.
