Al “Abbie” Dennison

Al “Abbie” Dennison, age 78, of Jackson, passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2019 at Riverside Methodist Hospital.  He was born June 9, 1941 in Columbus to the late Chester and Hester (Ruff) Dennsion.

Al is survived by his wife of 34 years, Rosetta (Farley) Dennison; children, Randy, Steven, A.J., Arthur, Elmer, Mickel, Christopher and Abby-Rose Dennison, and Dr. Alexander Tristan Riley; numerous grandchildren; brother, Bill; and sisters, Esther Mae and Darlene.  Also surviving are numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Carl Dennison and Ronnie Riley; daughters, Tia Riley and Shannon Riley; brothers, Raymond, Chester and Jerry; and sisters, Dora, Alice, Sarah Jane, and infant Barbara Ann.

Al was a meticulous painter.  He owned and operated United Industrial Painting Co. located in Jackson.  He took pride in his work and would start every job for the company, so he knew it was done right.  He would never ask anyone to do anything he himself wouldn’t do.  He was always a joy to be around and had a terrific sense of humor.  He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him. 

Friends may call Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019 at 12 p.m. (noon) at the funeral home with Pastor Randy Patterson officiating.  Burial will follow in the Dennison Family Cemetery.  Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com
