Delbert R. Yates, age 92, of Jackson, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020. He was born in Oak Hill, Ohio on Oct. 10, 1928 to the late Elsie and Chloe (Dulaney) Yates. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia McCormick; his second wife, Ruby Craig; a sister, Othella Hughes; an infant brother, Luther Yates; and step children: Buddy Craig and Carol Adams.
He is survived by his daughter, Debra (Clyde) Doles; two grandchildren: David D. Thompson Jr., and Misty D. Miller; and two great-grandchildren: Cassandra Boggs and Miranda Miller.
Delbert had lived his entire life in Jackson County. He retired from Modern Retread where he worked in their service department. He loved fishing, camping and hunting. He also enjoyed shooting crossbows.
Funeral services will be held at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home on Friday, Jan. 1, 2021 at 4 p.m., with Pastor Larry Boggs officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service from 2 to 4 p.m.
