William E. “Bill” Mulhern, Sr.

William E. “Bill” Mulhern, Sr., age 82, of Wellston, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the Cape Coral Hospital in Cape Coral, Florida. He was born July 14, 1934, in Wellston, Ohio, to the late James T. and Rose Young Mulhern.

Bill was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps who served in the Korean War. For his sacrificial service to his country, Bill was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He retired from USEC, where he was employed as an X-Ray technician. He and his wife Mary, were the owners of the former William and Mary Kiddie Academy in Wellston for 25 years. He was born and raised in the Wellston area and was a great contributor to the Wellston community over the years. Bill enjoyed spending time with his family. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. In his spare time, Bill enjoyed fishing and traveling. He was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Wellston and the Knights of Columbus. Bill was also a member of the Black Diamond Lodge #538 F&AM of Wellston for over 50 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Stewart Mulhern; children, Debbie Lowe of Wellston, Connie Davis (Gary) of Hamden, Bill Mulhern, Jr. (Kim) of Wellston, and Tami Largent (Tom) of Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren, Chris Lowe, of Wellston, Misty Collier (Scott) of McArthur, Ashley Curtis (Donnie) of Jackson and Brooke Andrews (Levi) of Jackson; great-grandchildren, Hunter Collier, Ashtyn Johnson, Grant Collier, and Addisyn and Jaxon Curtis; sister-in-law, Kathy Mulhern of Wellston; brothers-in-law, Bob Stewart (Lou), of Hamden and Jim Stewart (Carlene) of Middletown; and sister-in-law, Liz Waldron of Cape Coral, FL. Bill is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother Jim Mulhern.

Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Masonic service will be begin at 7:30 p.m. followed by Rosary service at 8 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Wellston with Father Donald Maroon officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in the Ridgewood Cemetery.
