William Carl Black

William Carl Black, 72, of McArthur, passed away Monday, June 17, 2013 at his residence. He was born April 9, 1941 in Steubenville, Ohio, son of the late Carl Clay and Margaret Stephenson Black. William was married to Cecilia Calvin Black, who survives.

He first taught for Wellston City Schools, spent 17 years at Fairfield School for Boys and finished his 30 years of teaching for Vinton County High School. William was a member of the National Guard and he enjoyed fishing, painting, baseball and writing.

In addition to his wife, William is survived by his son, Carl (Dawn) Black of Avon Lake, Ohio; stepson, Joshua (Kayla) Maerker of Wilkesville; stepdaughter, Deidra (Matthew) Peterson of Jackson; grandchildren, Samantha, Cameron and Lucas Black, Alex Ray, Payton Speakman, Trase Speakman and Wyatt Peterson; and a sister, Arene Brock of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
