William “Bill” E. Morris

William “Bill” E. Morris, age 69, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Nov. 23, 2017. Born Aug. 18, 1948, he was the son of the late James and Alfreda Keesee Morris.

Bill graduated from Jackson High School with the Class of 1966. He attended Morehead State University before leaving college to join the U. S. Navy. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1968 to 1972. He was a retiree of Glatfelter Paper Company in Chillicothe.

Bill had a passion for traveling and a natural curiosity about the world around him. He had a big heart and loved his family more than anything else in the world. Using the words of his late friend, Roy Dove, “It was a good life. We just wish there had been more of it.”

He will be missed by his wife of 45 years, Marilyn Lauderback Morris; daughters, Michelle (Tim) Miller of Gallipolis, Teresa (Eric) McGinnis of Chillicothe, and Hillary (Tim) Needham of Jackson; grandson, Trent Miller and granddaughters, Sydney Miller, Madison Needham, Ally and Aubrey McGinnis; and special additions to the family, Crystal Miller and Cory Miller.

Also surviving are a sister, Carol Bailey; mother-in-law, Katherine Lauderback; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Delores Ridout, Ralph and Sharon Lauderback, Garry Sexton, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends who will also miss him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Sexton; brother, Gary Morris; brother-in-law, Rev. Patrick Bailey; and father-in-law, Emerson Lauderback.

There will be a memorial gathering at Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Per Bill’s wishes, his family will scatter his ashes on their travels.

In 2016, Bill received the gift of life in the form of a bi-lateral lung transplant. Because of that gift, his family enjoyed 18 more months with him and they want to ask everyone to please consider being an organ donor.
