William A. Cochran

William A. Cochran, age 83, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away from complications with Alzheimer’s on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Adams Lane Care Center of Zanesville, Ohio. He was born January 16, 1933 in Jackson, Ohio to the late Ralph A. and Lenora Pearl (Hixon) Cochran.

Bill, as he was commonly called, was a graduate of Jackson High School, Class of 1951. He received an engineering degree from the Wisconsin University. He was a 50-year member of the Operating Engineers Union Local 18 of Columbus. He was certified in working with all hazardous materials. He loved running and working heavy equipment, especially the cranes.

He is survived by son, William Harold (Sue) Cochran of Cardington, Ohio and daughter, Rev. Dedra M. Rader of Zanesville, Ohio; step-sons, Clyde Doles, Carl Doles, Tim Doles, Andy Doles, and Joe Doles; step-daughter, Rebecca Baker; grandchildren: Donna (Brian) Landefeld, Darcie (Tony) Divictor, Garry Wyatt, Mikey Cochran, Derrick (Margret) Wyatt, Rebecca Rader, and Randall Wyatt; great-grandchildren, Katie (Ethan) Vandyke, Addyson and Nolan Landefeld, Charlotte Anne and Isabella Grace Wyatt, and Alucard Wyatt and Phoenix Wyatt; great-great-granddaughter, Bexlee Vandyke; and special friend and walking buddy, Mark Long.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by wives, Eula Strickland Cochran, Eileen Newsom Cochran, and Mary A. Doles Cochran; children, Patrick A. Cochran and Evelyn N. Wyatt; and brother, Ralph Cochran.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 11 a.m. with Rev. R. Keith Rader officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.
