Walter R. Norris

Walter R. Norris, 76, of Wellston, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at his home, with his family at his side. He was born on December 19, 1939 in Wellston, son of the late Charles and Margaret (Loudermilk) Norris.

Walter previously attended Wills Chapel Church with Reverend A. B. Maloy and was a former pastor of several area churches including Fairview Church and Welcome Chapel.

Walter was a Wellston Golden Rockets sports enthusiast. Also an avid hound lover, he enjoyed running rabbit and coon dogs and fox hounds, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving family, wife of 55 years, Emma, whom he married on June 25, 1960; children: Charles “Chock” (Sarah) Norris, William “Bill” (Carla) Norris, Walter R. “Bub” (Jodi) Norris, and Kim (Rick) Robinette; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters: Gertrude Spain, Jean Stanley, and Dorothy Schultz; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by seven brothers and three sisters.

A funeral service celebrating Walter’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of R.M. Williams Funeral Service, 120 W, Broadway St., with Pastor Calvin Ray Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgewood Cemetery, Wellston.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 29 from 5 to 8 p.m.
