Walter Preston Simpson, age 74 of Londonderry, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2018 at the Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe. He was born in Jackson County, Ohio on August 29, 1944 to the late James and Arleda (Rouse) Simpson. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy (Salyers) Simpson; brothers: James and Steve; and sisters: Delores and Dorothy.
He is survived by his sons: Richard D. (Susan) Simpson and Jeffrey L. (Stacy) Simpson; daughter: Tammy R. (Tim) Preston; grandchildren: Michael (Hannah), Eric, Bethany (Jamey) and Damian; and a great-grandchild on the way that he was very much looking forward to seeing. Also surviving are his brothers: Kenny and Donnie; sisters Bonnie and Connie; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was a self-employed concrete worker who enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding 4-wheelers, leather working and telling stories.
Funeral services will be held at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Mark Rosser officiating. Burial will follow in Hanna Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 2 hours prior to the service on Thursday from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.
