Virginia Stiffler Peters

Virginia Stiffler Peters, 99, a life-long resident of Jackson, passed away Dec. 31, 2018. She was born in Jackson on April 11, 1919 to the late Allie L. and Gertrude Stiffler.

She was a 1937 graduate of Jackson High School and The Ohio State University in 1941. She taught school in Lancaster, Ohio and Arlington, Va. before returning to Jackson in 1946. She married Edgar K. Peters, also of Jackson, in July 1943. After her children were older, she resumed teaching at Kinnison and Parkview Elementary Schools. She was a lifelong member of Christ United Methodist Church and was active in many civic activities including Century Club and Literary Club.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar of 43 years; and two brothers, John F. Stiffler, Sr. of Jackson, and G. Robert Stiffler, of McConnelsville, Ohio.

She is survived by her two sons, John Peters and Lee (Marti) Peters, both of Florida; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Friends may call Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019 at the Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson from 12 to 1 p.m. Funeral services will follow the calling hours at 1 p.m. at the church.
