Vesta Joyce Beckner

Vesta Joyce Beckner, 84, of Hamden, Ohio, met her Heavenly Father suddenly on Monday, March 18, 2013, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Florida.

She was born on December 28, 1928, at Tiptop, Virginia, to the late John and Bessie Reed Lusk. She was a homemaker and attended the Puritan Freewill Baptist Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael O’Dell.

Surviving is her husband of 18 years, Delbert L. Beckner; also two step-sons and their wives, Jim and Leila “Kit ” Beckner, and Greg and Diane Beckner, of Hamden; two step-grandchildren, Jim “Jimmy” Beckner of Allensville, and Stephanie (Brian) Speakman of Hamden; a granddaughter, Lisa Bardell, of Dakota, Illinois; a sister, Helen McClenny, of Amarillo, Texas; a niece, Linda Altz, of Amarillo, Texas; and several great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Wellston with Brother Lee Aldridge officiating. Vesta’s final resting place will be in the Hamden Cemetery. Friends may call at the Jenkins Chapel on Sunday from 2 until 4 p.m. and until the funeral hour on Monday.
