Tim JD McCoy, age 68, of Oak Hill passed away Saturday, May 25, 2019 at his home. He was born May 4, 1951 in Oak Hill to the late Clare McCoy Jr and Wylodine (Moore) McCoy.
He is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Ruth (McNerlin) McCoy, of Oak Hill; sons, Dr. JD (Stephanie) McCoy, of Centerville, Ohio and Drs. Tim (Dina) McCoy, of West Palm Beach, Florida; grandchildren, TJ, Morgan, Riley and Olivia McCoy; brothers, Larry (Karen) McCoy, of Wheelersburg and Shane (Lisa) McCoy, of Marysville; nephew, Matthew (August) McCoy, of North Carolina.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Tim was born and raised in Oak Hill, he loved and took a lot of pride in his community. He started the biddy league ball program in Oak Hill. He served on the Oak Hill Board of Education until he resigned and accepted a junior high Math Teacher position for 24 years. He coached many different sports including the one and only boys conference championship team in track and field from Oak Hill in 1998. He later became Athletic Director and assistant principal of Oak Hill High School then becoming principal before he retired in 2009. Tim was a crucial part of the building of the Athletic Stadium in Oak Hill. He was also on the village council of Oak Hill. He most recently spearheaded the Committee on purchasing new Christmas lights for the village. He was a wonderful father and loving husband and will be greatly missed by his family and friends and everyone who knew him.
Friends may call Tuesday, May 28, 2019 from 2-8 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Cline Rawlins officiating. Burial will follow in C.M. Cemetery.
