Shirley Ann (Vance) Rhea

Shirley Rhea, age 76, of Jackson, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018.

Shirley was born Aug. 24, 1941 in Jackson to the late Edgar and Maxine (Chamberlin) Vance. She graduated in 1959 from Jackson High School and continued her education as a cosmetologist. She married Steve Rhea on Sept. 16, 1962.

She is survived by her husband, Steve; her children Sharelle (Greg) Gerstenberger and Shalan (Erica) Rhea, all of Jackson. She is also survived by the four joys of her life, her grandsons: Trevor Gerstenberger, Connor Gerstenberger, Carter Rhea and Cooper Rhea. She was an extraordinary grandmother that attended every sporting event and supplied endless treats and hugs.

She is also survived by a sister, Sharon (Larry) Elam of Chillicothe and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was a cosmetologist by trade and owned her own salon for many years. She lived in Port Huron, Michigan for 12 years, where she was an adored babysitter for Leigh and Justin Peltz, the children of the late Ed Peltz and Dawn Peltz.
