Sara “Sally” McGill

Sara “Sally” McGill, 81, of Wellston, formerly of Athens, Ohio, died Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Born July 10, 1935 in Bedford, she was the daughter of the late John Nathan and Edythe Venita Parmiter Noble.

She was a 1953 graduate of Rome Canaan High School and graduated from Ohio University in 1957. She was a school teacher for 30 years, having taught at Union Furnace, Ames Bern and retiring from Federal Hocking School District. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Athens Chapter 175 and Wellston Chase Chapter 162 and a member of the Wellston Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by her husband, Dale; a daughter, Aundrea (Dave) Carpenter-Colvin of Athens; a grandson, Parker Colvin of Athens; a sister, Willa Noble (Richard) Lucas of Oatman, AZ; three stepchildren, Terry McGill of Dublin, Teresa Hines of Columbus, Tamala (Mario) McGill Wright of Richmond, VA; five step grandchildren; and eight step great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Bert Carpenter.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, 168 Morris Ave., Athens, with Rev. Donald Fairchild officiating. Burial will be in West Union Street Cemetery.
