Roger D. Ewing, Sr.

Roger D. Ewing Sr., age 69, of Jackson, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at OSU Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.

Roger is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Janet (Crabtree) Ewing of Jackson, Ohio; three children: Rhonda (Randy) Oliver of Lancaster, Ohio, Marsha Fox of Jackson, Ohio, and Roger Ewing Jr. (Mandy) of Jackson, Ohio; eight grandchildren: Brandi (Elliott) Sarnowski, Ryan (Katelin) Oliver, Kayla (Jarod) Landrum, Melissa Welch, Jordan Brewer, Morgan Brewer, Jase Ewing, and Hannah Fox; three great-grandchildren: Caleb Landrum, Leland Sarnowski, and Jaysalyn Landrum; sisters: Bonnie Ewing of Wellston, Ohio and Beverly Molihan of Lancaster, Ohio; sisters-in-law: Violet (Tom) Arthur, Marilyn Ewing, and Carrie Ewing; brother-in-law, Ron Camp; as well as several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, James and Doldie Ewing; brothers: Clarence Ewing, Stanley Ewing, Charles Ewing, and James Ewing; infant brother, Arthur Ewing; sisters: Gladys Bapst, Glenora Adams, and Emily Camp; great-grandson, Emery Luke Sarnowski; mother and father-in-law, Ora and Eva Crabtree of Jackson, Ohio; and brother-in-law, Sherman Crabtree of Jackson, Ohio.

Roger was a member of Elevate Ministries in Jackson, Ohio for many years. He loved living for God and counted it an honor to be one of the first faces everyone saw when he greeted them at the church doors. He enjoyed talking to people and he never met a stranger. He was well known for his love and compassion for other people, and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Roger cherished spending time with his family, and loved them all dearly. He also loved fishing, camping, and sprint car racing and enjoyed doing these things with his friends and family as often as possible. He enjoyed southern gospel music, bluegrass music, playing his guitar, relaxing around a campfire, and front porch sitting.

Anyone who knew Roger will agree that he will be greatly missed.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 12, 2015 from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Russ Strange and Rev. Michael Simpson officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Jackson, Ohio.
