Richard R. Hammond

Richard R. Hammond, age 86, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away Monday, April 27, 2015 at Zusman Hospice of Columbus, Ohio. He was born April 20, 1929 in Oak Hill, Ohio to the late Fred and Lydia (Howell) Hammond.

Richard retired from Frick Gallagher Manufacturing Company of Wellston, Ohio. He was a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church of Oak Hill, Ohio. He was also a Veteran of the United States Army in which he served in the Korean War.

He is survived by his son, Christopher Hammond of Bexley, Ohio; sisters, Bea Kuhner and Norma (Dwight) Grow of Jackson, Ohio and Shirley (Bill) Stone of New Albany, Ohio; and sister-in-law, Imogene Hammond.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Betty (Brown) Hammond; sister, Collis Stewart; and brothers, Jerry Hammond, Francis Hammond, and Denver Hammond.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Zusman Hospice of Bexley for the care they provided.

Friends may call on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Herman Stewart and Rev. Fred Crabtree officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the local D.A.V. will follow at C.M. Cemetery.
