Richard Henry

Richard Henry, age 83, of Wellston, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born Nov. 10, 1935 in Wellston, Ohio, son of the late Charles Willard Henry and Florence Deal Henry.

Rich was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from Waterloo Coal Company, where he was employed for 35 years. Rich was a faithful Christian who enjoyed attending services at the Wellston Church of the Nazarene. Rich was also a talented woodworker, who enjoyed sharing his woodworking projects with everyone. He enjoyed being around his grandchildren and taking them for rides in search of items to “recycle”.

Rich is survived by his wife, Jean Canode Henry; daughters, Paula Jean Sheets of Hamden, Cathy Jo Bush of Wellston, Sally Marlene Brown of Wellston, and Kelly Christine King of Wellston; sister, Dorothy Faye Hall of McArthur; brothers, Harlan Herbert Henry of Washington C.H. and Johnny Leroy Henry of Wellston; as well as 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Rich was preceded in death by his daughter, Diana Henry Hughes; brothers, Charles William “Bud” Henry, Fred Henry, Brice Henry and Don Henry; along with two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home.
