Richard G. “Rick” Tipton

Richard G. Tipton, age 71, of Leo, passed away Friday, November 16, 2018, at his home. He was born January 2, 1947 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Everett G. Tipton and Minnie Lucille Romans Tipton.

Rick attended Coalton High School until the closing of the school in 1964. He then spent his senior year at Wellston High School, where he graduated with the class of 1965. He served in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1972 as a jet engine mechanic in Taiwan. Rick was a truck broker, having retired from Stallers Trucking. In his spare time, he enjoyed the outdoors and hunting, and he absolutely loved mowing and taking care of his yard. Rick is survived by his wife, Joyce E. Keating Tipton; 1 son, Ian Tipton of Hamden; 3 grandchildren, Hayden Milliken, Brynden Tipton and Joseph Milliken; 2 sisters, Vicki Smith of Hamden and Debbie McManis (Kenny) of Hamden; 2 nieces, Heather Manns (Crit) and Jessica Gardner; nephew, Jarod Huntley; 2 great-nieces, Lauren Gardner and Kelsey Manns; mother-in-law, Ann Keating of Wellston; along with several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins and friends. Besides his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Lee Smith; and his father-in-law, Joe Keating.

In keeping with Rick’s request, there will be no public services. Private family visitation will be held at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston with burial to follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com
