Richard Duane Tripp

Richard Duane Tripp, age 93, passed away on Friday April 28, 2017 at the VA Hospital in Chillicothe, Ohio. He was born March 11, 1924 to the late Cecil Tripp and Gladys (Cheeseman) Tripp in Jackson County.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his late wife of 55 years, Mary Ellen (Finn) Tripp; a son, Frederick Alva Tripp; daughter-in-law, Judy Tripp; and sister, Betty Hatten.

Richard is survived by sons: Phillip Richard (Suzanne) Tripp of Reynoldsburg, Robert Wesley Tripp of Columbus, Cecil Allen (Helen) Tripp of Jackson, David Lewis Tripp of Kent; sister-in-law, Betty Angles; granddaughter, Ripley Tripp; as well as several other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He served in the U.S. Army during WW II. Richard was also a POW and obtained four Bronze Stars. He retired from Frick-Gallagher Manufacturing in Wellston, Ohio as a drafting engineer. He was a lifetime member of the VFW in Jackson and the American Legion in South Bloomfield, Ohio. Richard was baptized at Amanda Christian Church in Amanda, Ohio in 2016.

Graveside services will be held on Friday May 5, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Ridgewood Cemetery in Wellston with Pastor Steven Queen officiating. Military services will be conducted by Jackson Chapter 45 Disabled American Veterans.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be sent to National League of POW/MIA Families, 5673 Columbia Pike, Suite 100, Falls Church, VA 22041.
