Rice Wagner, age 73, of Wellston, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012, at the Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was born April 22, 1939 in Knoxville, Kentucky, the son of the late Danny and Edna Karnes Wagner. Rice was a former maintenance supervisor for the city of Gallipolis. He attended the Holiness House of Prayer and he loved and enjoyed going to yard sales.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Rosie Ethel Hibbard Wagner; children, Carolyn Kennedy of Athens, Dorothy Jones of Jackson, Jessie Darst of Chillicothe, Jimmy Wagner of Cincinnati and James Wagner of Gallipolis, as well as 19 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Delorise Jean Miller; brothers, Preston Wagner and Jesse Wagner; sister, Lois Owens, and half brother, Raymond Wagner.
Calling hours will be Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Gallia Baptist Church with Rev. Cline Rawlins officiating.
