Ressie Mae (Rawlins) Crabtree

Ressie Mae (Rawlins) Crabtree, age 93, formerly of Oak Hill, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2019 at the Buckeye Care Center in Lancaster, Ohio surrounded by her loving family. 

She was born on Sept. 9, 1926 in Oak Hill, Ohio to Guy and Flora Mae Rawlins. Ressie married the love of her life, Arnold E. Crabtree in 1945.  For many years, she worked at Oak Hill Hospital and at Heartland of Jackson which suited her loving and giving heart.

Ressie lived a fulfilling life as a loving wife, mother to six children, a grandmother, a sister to nine siblings, and a friend to many. She always had a smile to brighten your day. She loved her family more than life itself and she cherished every moment she spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her hands were rarely still. She loved to cook and make quilts with her late husband, which they shared with many friends and loved ones.

Ressie is survived by her children: Jewell (Bill) Poling of Lancaster, Ohio, Pam (Jeff) Brown of Lancaster, Ohio, and Randy Crabtree of Thurman, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and brother, Harry (Wilma) Rawlins of Indiana; along with many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was her husband of 68 years, Arnold; a daughter, Connie; sons, Eddy and Meredith; daughter-in-law, Karen; parents, Guy and Flora Rawlins; sisters, Dorothy, Mabel, Lena, and Freda; and brothers, Robert, Howard, Buell, and Herbert.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019 at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill from 1 to 3 p.m. with a funeral service immediately following at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at Monroe Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com
