Phyllis K. Cantrell

Phyllis K. Cantrell, age 53, of Hamden, passed on peacefully to her heavenly home on Saturday, March 28, 2015, from her earthly home, surrounded by loved ones. She was born March 13, 1962 in Wellston, Ohio to the late Bobby L. Baker and Lenorris Mullins Baker.

Phyllis was a 1979 graduate of Vinton County Consolidated High School. She received her nursing degree from the Hocking School of Nursing and a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the Indiana Wesleyan College. Phyllis was a licensed nursing home administrator. She was the former nursing consultant for the Sunbridge Nursing Home Corporation; former director of nursing at Sunbridge Nursing Home in Circleville; former director of nursing at Four Winds Community in Jackson and former charge nurse at Jenkins Care Community in Wellston. Phyllis was a member of Maggie’s Home Church in Dundas. She enjoyed sewing and quilting and she had her own online quilting business, “Quilting with Love”.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, James Franklin “Frank” Cantrell, whom she married on May 19, 1979; daughters, Sandra Cantrell of McArthur and Kayla Cantrell of Hamden; grandchildren, Brandon Cantrell, Adam Caudill, Callie Caudill, Landon Cantrell, Koleton Rhodes and Layton Rhodes; great-grandchildren, Colton Cantrell, Aiden Cantrell and Maddox Cantrell; brother, John Baker of Glen Roy, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her sister, Diana Lynn Ficek.

Calling hours will be both Tuesday and Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m., at Maggie’s Home Church in Dundas. Funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Maggie’s Home Church with Daniel Newsome and Hank Forgey officiating. Burial will follow in the Mullins Family Cemetery.
