Paul Vonlyn Howard

Paul Vonlyn Howard, age 85, of Canal Winchester, formally of Oak Hill, passed away early Saturday morning, July 23, 2016 at his daughter’s home in Blacklick, Ohio. He was born May 6, 1931, in Oak Hill, to the late Earcell and Ivola (Jaynes) Howard. He was a United Sates Navy Veteran and a boxer in the Navy after graduating from Oak Hill High School. Paul loved hunting, fishing, the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cincinnati Red Legs and gardening. As a hobby he loved building various objects, such as birdhouses and birdfeeders.

He is survived by his children, Deborah (Dick) Klinger, Paul V. Jr. (Hilda) Howard, Kathy (Dennis) Gates, Sheila Howard, Melissa (Brian) Sharpe, Amy Naus, Richard “Scott” Howard and Amanda Howard; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; and a brother, Dale Marvin “Lou” Howard; as well as several nieces, nephews relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Totsie (Hall) Howard; son, David Charles Howard; brother, Harold Lee “Spike” Howard; and sister, Beverly K. (Howard) Cook.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill with Pastor Fred Crabtree officiating. Burial will follow in Hill Cemetery in Thurman, with military graveside services. Friends may call Monday, July 25, 2016 from 2-6 PM at the funeral home.
