Norman Maynard

Norman Maynard, 83, of Jackson, formerly of Wayne, W.Va., passed away Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017. Norman was an avid bluegrass musician who enjoyed playing guitar and singing with family and friends. He was a United States Army veteran and served in the Korean Conflict. Norman was dedicated to honoring veterans and their service and volunteered as an honor guard member for fallen veterans in the area. He was a lifetime member of the DAV, VFW and AMVETS. Norman enjoyed watching and cheering for the Jackson Ironmen football team at every home game and was an avid sports fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Bertha Maynard; brothers, Lindsey Maynard, Earl Maynard, Orville Lee Maynard and Charles Maynard; and sisters, Maudie Mathis and Fannie Smith.

He is survived by his brother, Dallas Maynard of Pataskala; sister, Lena Kingery of Sarasota, Fla.; son, Tom (Deanne) Maynard of Columbus; daughters, Noreena (Bill) Henry and Debbie (Chuck) Meadows of Jackson; four grandchildren, Brandae (Mike) Rouse, Brittny (Chad) Knittle, Cassidy (Randy) Fisher and Holli (Loy) Nelson; and nine great-grandchildren, Hannah, Emily, Troy, Kallie, Jax, Emerie, Kennedy, Cameron and Olivia.

A celebration of life will be held to honor Norman at Grace United Methodist Church Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017 at 11 a.m.
