Norman G. Slaughter

World War II Veteran, PFC Norman G. Slaughter, age 89 of Jackson, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis. He was born on March 30, 1927 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Oscar E. and Nellie May (Taylor) Slaughter.

He is survived by his wife, Frances (Swihart) Slaughter; son, Steven G. Slaughter; daughter, Teresa A. Heine; two grandchildren: Jamie L. Dawson and Richard I. Heine; and one great-grandchild, Cory L. Wilson. A brother, Perry F. Slaughter, also survives.

Besides his parents, Norman was preceded in death by a grandson, Robert G. Heine; two brothers: Raymond D. Slaughter and Rex G. Slaughter; sister, Eileen (Slaughter) Milburn and an infant sister, June Mary Slaughter.

He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. Norman was a truck driver, motorcycle enthusiast, liked working and hog farming.

The family will receive friends at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2016. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Friday, August 12 at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Skip Donovan officiating. Military services will be conducted by the Jackson Chapter 45 of the D.A.V. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Services are under the direction of the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home & Southern Ohio Cremation Services in Jackson.
