Nancy J. Dye, age 84, of Wellston, passed away peacefully Friday, Dec. 28, 2018 at Jenkins Care Community in Wellston. She was born Nov. 21, 1934 on Pilgey’s Nob in Wellston, Ohio, the daughter of the late A.G. Voelker and Leola L. Gibson Voelker.
Nancy was a 1952 graduate of Wellston High School. Throughout the years, Nancy worked hard to maintain her graduating class history and arrange parties and get-togethers for her classmates. In her earlier days, Nancy was employed for 11 years at the former Ward’s Drug Store in Wellston, and then she was employed, until her retirement, for 23 years as a receptionist at the Holzer Clinic in Jackson. Nancy was a gifted artist whose work consisted mainly of water colors, oil painting and commercial advertising art. She won many awards for her talent of decorating business windows with displays for the holiday season. In years past, Nancy always enjoyed traveling all over the United States and making lifelong memories with many friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Valerie L. Bungart of Florida; brother and sister-in-law, Rodney and Sally Voelker of Virginia Beach, Va.; as well as four nieces, and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Nancy maintained lifelong friendships with high school classmates, as well as many friends from her years at Holzer Clinic, including Karen McCall, who has proven over the years to be an Angel to Nancy, especially during her stay at Jenkins. Also during her stay at Jenkins, another good friend, Sandy Borden, brought Nancy a hot cup of tea and conversed with her every morning, which was much appreciated.
Besides her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney M. Dye in 1966; her son, Thomas Evan “Tommy” Dye in 1977; and her sister, Mona J. Trumble in 1982.
At Nancy’s request, there will be no services. Her body was cremated with burial in the Ridgewood Cemetery. For those who wish, Nancy requested a rose bush, tree or flowers be planted in her memory.
