Max W. Barber

Max Willard Barber, 93, of McArthur, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at Jenkins Care Community in Wellston. He was born on July 17, 1925, at his home in Nelsonville, Ohio, the son of the late Earl and Dora Rosser Barber. Max was a World War II Veteran who entered the Navy on July 14, 1943 and was honorably discharged on December 12, 1945. He retired from the Vinton County National Bank after 32 years of service.

Max is survived by his brother, Hubert Barber of Springfield, Missouri; daughters, Marsha Collins of McArthur and Janis (Howard) Morris of Pickerington; sons, Chris (Peggy) Barber of Wellston and Kevin Barber of Chillicothe; special daughter-in-law, Brenda Barber Fee of McArthur; grandchildren, Sheri (Michael) Kamer of Columbus, Cindy (Chris) Graham of Wellston, Darin (Tami) Collins of McArthur, Shane Barber of McArthur, Jared (Chrissy) Collins of McArthur, Melissa (Ryan) Caudill of McArthur; great-grandchildren, Kristin, Kara, Max, Ciara, Grant, Kelton, Avery, Rylee, Michael, Jack, Kason, Caiden, Karis, Brycen and Adelyn; great-great grandchildren, Maelyn, Alayna, Jocelyn and Eldon; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Max was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Donna Jill Warren Barber whom he married on October 27, 1944; son, Gary Barber; son-in-law, James L. Collins; sister, Frances Barber Morris and brother, Donald Barber.

A funeral service celebrating Max’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at R.M. Williams Funeral Service, 120 W. Broadway St., Wellston, with Rev. James Taylor officiating. Interment with full military rites will follow in Elk Cemetery, McArthur.

Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, from 6-8 p.m.
