Mary J. Howell Sickles

Mary J. Howell Sickles, age 77, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at SOMC Hospice, Portsmouth, Ohio. She was born in Jackson, on November 13, 1935.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Myrtle Martin, ex-husband, Thomas W. Plummer Sr.; husbands, Charles Howell and Samuel Sickles; twin sons, Robert William and Allen Wayne Plummer; daughter, Wilma Jean Martin; a nephew whom she raised, Terry Whaley; one sister, Virginia Hughes and two brothers, Charley Martin and Howard Martin Jr.

She is survived by children: Kenneth Stricklen of Alabama, Tommy (Ellen) Plummer Jr. of McArthur, Ed (Lisa) Plummer of Jackson, Carolyn (Dan) Plummer Wilson, of South Point and Glenn (Bonnie) Plummer of McArthur; stepsons, Larry Plummer of Alabama and David Plummer of Dayton; stepdaughter, Donna Plummer of Marysville; nieces and nephews whom she raised: Diana (Joey) Rhodes of Ripley, West Virginia, Rick Whaley of Columbus, Brenda (Roger) Rafferty of Jackson, Cindy Bolenbaugh of Columbus, Kevin (Kathy) Whaley of Eldora, Ohio, David Whaley of Ripley, West Virginia and Sue (Virgil) Breech of Lairsville; a very special friend, Jane McCain of Oak Hill; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mary was a loving mother, grandmother and aunt who loved life! She was a member of the AmVets, VFW, Eagles and Moose.

Friends may call at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home Saturday, September 7, from 2 – 8 p.m., where funeral service will be held Sunday, September 8, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Tim Keeton officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery.
