Mary Ballenger Montgomery

Mary Ballenger Montgomery, 89, of Jackson, formerly of Chillicothe, died 4:52 a.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2013 in Four Winds Community Nursing Home, Jackson, Ohio following an extended illness.

She was born January 13, 1924, in Johnson County, KY, to the late Branch H. and Cora Rice Blanton. On October 16, 1944, she married Chester Ballenger who died April 27, 1984. On May 19, 1992, she married Prater Montgomery who died October 28, 2002.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Diann and Richard Coppock, of Zelienople, PA; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Audrey Ballenger, of Jackson, OH; a son, Timothy Ballenger, of Bainbridge; grandchildren, Amy Saleone, Aaron Coppock, John (Jill) Ballenger, David (Jennifer) Ballenger, Donn Ballenger and Amanda Ballenger; and a nephew, Ellis (Pat) Blanton, of Morristown, TN.

She was predeceased by brothers, Wayne, Payne and Ellis Blanton.

Mary was a member of the First United Methodist Church and also attended Three Locks Church. She had worked at the former Britt’s Department Store and in home health care. Mary was a member of the Keystone Women’s Group in Jackson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 28, 2013 in the Ware Funeral Home, Chillicothe, with Rev. John Ballenger officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends were to call at Ware’s from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday. You may sign her online register at www.warefh.com.
