Martha L. Reedy

Martha L. Reedy, 91, of Idaville, Indiana, passed away at 9:42 a.m. (CST), Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017, at the Southlake Campus of Methodist Hospital Emergency Room in Merrillville. She was born on Saturday, July 24, 1926, in Wellston, Jackson County, Ohio, to the late Harry and Golda Merle (Woltz) Specht. On July 22, 1955, in Jackson, Ohio, she married Gary E. Reedy; he survives.

Martha and her husband, Gary, have lived in the Idaville area since 1999, coming from Dyer. She was a 1944 graduate of Jackson High School of Jackson, Ohio. Martha was a cheerleader through high school and sang with the Harmonetts. She was a former member of the Dyer United Methodist Church of Dyer, in the choir, and was in charge of funeral dinners. Martha also loved and enjoyed bowling on the Dyer United Methodist Women’s bowling team. She also served on the Lake Central School Corporation of Dyer, junior and high school uniform committee for six years. Martha was currently a member of the Hickory Grove Church of rural Delphi (Carroll County) and sang in their choir.

Survivors are husband, Gary E. Reedy of Idaville; daughter, Teresa Alexander of Idaville; sister-in-law, Charlotte Specht of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina; one niece; four nephews; and cousin, Mary Shrader of Rhode Island.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Golda Merle (Woltz) Specht; son, Craig Reedy; and brothers, Neal and Richard “Dick” Specht.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at the Miller – Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello, Indiana, and from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, at the Hickory Grove Church, 9714 N. 700 W., Delphi, Indiana 46923. A Celebration of Life Service will be at the church at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, with Rev. Ken Smith officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m., Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, at the Elk Cemetery of McArthur, Ohio.

Memorials may be given to the Jackson County Historical Society of Jackson, Ohio. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home, church, and cemetery.
