Marjorie Anne Dempsey, age 79, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family to go be with our lord and Savior on March 21, 2019 at 11:50 a.m. She was born Jan. 16, 1940 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Andy West and Annie Chandler. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter Howe; daughter, Cheryl Ewing; sister, Diane Helmick; grandson, Brian Ewing; daughter-in-law, Brenda Howe; and an “adopted” grandson, Christopher Nathan Wallace.

She is survived by three daughters: Karen Howe, Sherry (Mike Delaney) Ewing, and Tonia (Sid) Borman; one son, Walter “Kenny” Howe; five grandchildren: Michael (Katie) Ewing, Amanda (William) Radabaugh, Felicia (Justin Burris) Howe, and Christopher Garrett – all of southern Ohio, and Willard (Jamie) Decker, of Georgia. Also surviving are 11 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many “adopted” grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marjorie was a free-spirited woman who loved her Cherokee Indian heritage. She welcomed everyone with open arms – never knowing a stranger. She was the light of her family and friends’ lives. She loved horses and Elvis Presley. She enjoyed crocheting, watching her soap operas and drinking her coffee.

Funeral services will be held at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home at 4 p.m. on Monday, March 25 with Rev. Walter Howe officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours prior to the service from 2 to 4 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
