M. Jean Curran

M. Jean Curran, 87, of McArthur, passed away Friday, February 14, 2014 at Holzer Medical Center in Jackson. She was born October 30, 1926 in Kentucky, daughter of the late Roy Wynn and Henrietta Deatherage Robinson. Jean was the widow of the late Charles L. Curran.

Jean was a retired Vinton County Probate and Juvenile Court Clerk. She was a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Zaleski, a member of the McArthur Eagles Ladies Auxiliary and the McArthur VFW. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan.

Jean is survived by her son, Patrick Curran of Park Hills, Kentucky; daughter, Mary (Ron) Hayes of McArthur; grandchildren, Erica (Chad) Zinn, Heather (Todd) Braden, Kristi (Tommy) Newman, Andrew (Whitney) Curran, Alex Curran and Eric Curran and great-grandchildren, Cameron, Jordyn, Cody and Blake.

Funeral mass was held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 17, 2014 at St. Sylvester Catholic Church, 119 North 2nd St., Zaleski, with Father Joseph Trapp and Father Richard Engle officiating. Interment was to be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends called at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur on Sunday, from 5 to 8 p.m. with a prayer vigil service being held at 7 p.m.
