Loretta J. Jones, age 87, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2019 at OSU Wexner Medical Center. She was born on July 4, 1932 to the late John and Lucille (Booth) Harbert.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Loretta was very active in the community. She was a member of the Jackson Business and Professional Women’s Club, the Jackson City Tree Commission, and a charter member of the Jackson Lioness Club. She also served on Jackson City Council. The community project closest to her heart was Secret Santa which she served as the chairman of for 27 years.
Loretta is survived by her husband, Thomas “T.I.” Jones; two sisters, Rosalie Crabtree of Circleville, Ohio and Flora (Norman) Rhea of Jackson, Ohio; her children: John (Rachel) Jones of Washington, Jeff (Robin) Jones of Indiana, Judy (George) Wastier of Jackson, Ohio; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; two step-daughters, Tina (Gregg) Simon of Tennessee and Joy Jones Wallace of Florida; along with three step-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack R. Jones; a great-grandson, Anthony Jones; a sister, Joanna Jones; and a brother, John Gary Harbert.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with additional calling hours prior to the service from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery with Rev. Wendell Vermillion officiating.
