Lily “Jean” Wasmer, age 81, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Hill View Retirement Center in Portsmouth. She was born May 23, 1930 in Geddes, South Dakota to the late Jasper and Alvira Phillips.
Jean is survived by her husband of 59 years, Carl Wasmer; sons, Darrel and Alan Wasmer; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. She was active in church and in many community groups. Jean was a teacher in the Oak Hill Local School District.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 17, 2012 at the Lewis-Gillum Funeral Home in Oak Hill with burial to follow in C.M. Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.e-k-lewisfuneral.com
